The Differences Between Original PowerFit™ and HARMONY™?
Posted by Stephanie in Feature, Powerfit Harmony™ Tuesday, 23 March 2010 13:00 29 Comments
I want to take just a moment to explain the difference between the two PowerFit™ systems so you’ll know exactly why I created them. And if there’s anything that I didn’t cover here, please just ask! I’m here to help you so always feel free to let me know when you need more information.
First of all, original PowerFit™ is a split workout, working different muscles over the course of 5 days (the exception is the abs..y’all know I’m an “ab fan” so those get worked every day with PowerFit™
) This means that over a 5 day workout cycle, you’ll eventually hit every major muscle in the body and incorporate some cardio and core. You get plenty of rest as you move through the 5 days because you’re never working the same muscle group day after day. There’s also one resistance band for PowerFit™ which is of the intermediate resistance and 14 days of great meals to support your efforts in the nutrition area.
PowerFit HARMONY™ workouts are based on the proven training technique of muscle confusion and the system covers an entire 30 days. It includes three different fat-burning cardio workouts and four sculpting routines dividing the body up into four different zones: upper body, lower body, the push muscles and the pull muscles. And the three core workouts utilize strong balance and sculpting moves to tighten through the midsection. This means that you’re approaching your muscles with even more variety – hence more “muscle confusion” – and therefore, more fat loss, definition and lean muscle development for you!
There’s a workout chart in the guidebook that tells you exactly what to do on which day and if you follow this plan you’ll start by doing a mix of cardio, sculpting and core routines…then you’ll move into a more “cardio-intensive” phase where you’re doing more cardio workouts to increase fat burning, then you move into a “sculpting-intensive” phase to push your muscles a little harder. All the way through you’re getting a balance of rest days where I specifically ask you NOT to workout – but still do something just for you for 20 minutes – to be sure that you get balanced recovery to stay energized and refreshed as you move through the 30 days. And I also provide nutritional menus for every single meal and snack for the full 30 days.
One additional difference that I believe is critical to long-term success is that each day with HARMONY™, you are given a tip specific to that day’s workout…something I want you to really focus on to get the most out of your workout. There’s also a daily motivational tip to encourage you to live your life to its fullest and to help you focus on living in joy beyond your workouts! In other words, you’re getting a lot more of the “heart” behind why I do what I do…the things I want to share with you because I had to learn them myself…the passion for living healthy that I wish I could share with you each morning over a cup of coffee as you start your day!
You’ll also receive three different resistance bands with the HARMONY™ system. The pink one is lighter resistance, the purple one is intermediate just like the one in original PowerFit™, and the green band is heavy resistance to provide even more challenge.
I hope that gives you a feel for the differences between the workout systems and stay tuned for some rotations I’ll be posting that give you multiple options for combining original PowerFit with HARMONY – and also include the PowerFit PLUS™ workouts as well… There are many, many different ways you can slice and dice any of the PowerFit™ workouts to fit your schedule and fit your life!
Have a wonderful day and God bless!

Har – mon – y

HAR – MON – Y: A consistent, orderly or pleasing arrangement of parts…
The word “harmony” came to mind as I was explaining my fitness philosophies to someone a while back. You see, in case you haven’t picked up on this yet, I believe that working out is a LOT more than just a bunch of exercises. Truly successful programs not only provide solid training, but they also provide nutritional support and perhaps most importantly – supportive motivation to keep you encouraged to stay on your fitness journey. That’s what this new system is all about.
PowerFit HARMONY includes a 30-day guide and on each page you’re given a menu for the day, a fitness tip specific to the particular workout you’re doing, and a motivational tip to carry you into your workout with enthusiasm and out into your day with encouragement. There’s a workout chart that tells you exactly what to do on which day and by following this order you’ll take your body through the proven training method of muscle confusion – but while still keeping your workout time to 20 minutes. I’ll spend much more time on “muscle confusion” in another post as there are multiple layers of it in PowerFit HARMONY!
I’ve already been asked if it will be possible to mix and match these workouts either within the PowerFit family or with other workouts. The answer is absolutely! With PowerFit HARMONY alone you’ll have 60 minutes of cardio, 60 minutes of abs/core/stretch and 80 minutes of strength training to choose from. That’s not even including an additional 20 minutes of cardio from Cardio Kick or the 20 minutes of additional strength training from Total Express which are the PowerFit PLUS workouts.
When PowerFit HARMONY launches there will be additional rotations posted to the site that not only include ways to combine workouts if you want to, but also how to mix this up with walking, biking or running workouts. I’ll also have a rotation up to show you how to take original PowerFit and mix it with HARMONY. The point is that though I’ve written a play-by-play guide to take you through thirty days straight of training, ultimately I want you to make this yours!
I hope you’re off to a wonderful start this week!
God bless!

VIDEO: PowerFit 101 – Core Fusion
Posted by admin in All Videos, Beginner Tips, Feature Tuesday, 8 September 2009 03:00 4 Comments
I hope you’re off to a great start this week! This is the 5th PowerFit 101 video which I hope will help add some more options for those of you who are on the PowerFit journey with me. I could talk for hours on end about core as the older I get, the more important I’m realizing it is to be strong as possible in this area. Of course, defined abs are a nice added plus, but it’s all about feeling like I can move through my day with a strong core to do all that I need to do without feeling worn out.
And I can’t say it enough – please continue to provide feedback with suggestions and comments on PowerFit. I take notes on every single review posted over at qvc.com as well as what you post on this site or on Facebook to truly get a feel for how to improve. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know how I can help you in your own fitness journey and it’s an honor to be able to share my passion for fitness.
Have a wonderful, POWERful week and I’ll see you soon!
