You are a miracle…Live like it!

After all the shows from this past week I received many emails and Facebook messages and I’m enjoying reading every single one.  I’m working my way through them so if you haven’t heard from me yet I should be reaching out to you shortly.

Most of your emails are so full of excitement and energy that I wish I could be there the minute you start your new workouts to soak up some of that enthusiasm myself!  However, I’m also hearing from some of you who are really struggling with the idea that your body is a miracle right now as I said on some of the shows and you don’t think you’re worth the effort to even attempt to live a healthy life… I’ve read some emails that have made me tear up with a heaviness in my heart as I just want to scream through the computer that you are amazing – just the fact that you’re here at this point in time, wherever you are – that it’s not an accident and that you can’t hold yourself hostage to past failures.  That’s not how God designed you to live your life…

Reading some of these emails reminded me of an old post, so here it is again and I hope it helps some of you see what already exists in you.  Also, stay tuned for my next show dates and times.  Check out the calendar on the homepage for the PowerFit 101 video schedule to help you get the most out of your workouts.  And as usual, please let me know if there’s something specific you’d like to see demonstrated in a short video here on the site.

YOU are a miracle.  Live like it!

Have a wonderful day!

Do you believe that the Grand Canyon is a majestic place?  What comes to mind when you see the depth of beauty reflected in the tropical seas?  Or when the leaves turn in autumn, are you amazed at the brilliance and intensity of the colors?  There are so many things that simply take our breath away when we try to take in the beauty of creation, yet we often forget that we are no less majestic or less beautiful as reflections of God’s specific design.  We are told outright that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” so that same awe and reverence that many of us feel when we’re in nature should also be directed toward our bodies, yet many of us see nothing but failure and disappointment when we look at our own reflections.

I know that if you’re a mom and you’ve got on your old sweatshirt that happens to have spill stains and Nutrigrain bar fragments stuck to it that “majestic” and “beautiful” might not be the words that come to mind.  In fact, you may feel the complete opposite.  But that’s not how God wants us to feel!  You are beautiful!  You are a Devine creation!  God loves YOU despite the sweatpants and the housework that you haven’t gotten to yet – and He always will!  Savor that fact that you are part of His creation – and honor it by making choices supporting a healthy life.

Take some time today to DECIDE to make a healthy choice.  Maybe you can get outside to play with the kids for awhile, maybe it’s replacing a soda with a glass of plain old wonderful water….  it’s deciding step-by-step to make the right choices that gives you the power to step into health living.

Let me know about the steps you’re taking toward a healthy life – and don’t forget that the most awesome Creator of all made you to know Him!

Welcome to www.stephaniehuckabee.com!

***Good Morning!!  This is a post from Monday and I’m going to leave it up as you may be viewing this after seeing PowerFit on QVC’s Morning Show on Wednesday, August 26th at some point between 7-9am EST.  If you’re new to the site – WELCOME!  Make yourself at home and please let me know how I can help you reach your fitness goals!!***

If you’re new to my website, there are a couple of things you should know as you check things out.  First of all, I am available to you!  I believe that one of the purposes I can serve in this life is helping people see the joy that comes from healthy living, and that means I’ll support YOU in any way I can.  You can reach me by friending me on Facebook at Stephanie Corley Huckabee and posting or emailing there.  You can also contact me by going to the “ask” section on the homepage of the blog. I update the blog a couple of times a week and sometimes even shoot videos that answer questions I’ve received as some times it’s just easier to show something than type it!  You’ll also see PowerFit 101 videos I’ve started putting in the blog which address questions you may have on the workouts and to make sure you know how to personalize this program for you.  And when it comes to Facebook I’ll randomly share a healthy tip or idea – or ask you for your own advice – as I work hard just like you to balance the husband, the kids, the crazy schedule…

There’s also a new feature on the website called the Forum where you can interact not only with me, but with others who just like you, are taking steps toward healthy living.  Even though we may all be at different points in our fitness journeys, we can support one another as we move toward our goals.  You’ll find information on how people are using PowerFit alone to lose weight and tone up.  And there’s even information about using PowerFit in combination with other programs whether it’s to add resistance training to a walking program or a way to take a break from lifting heavy weights.  I’m very proud of the people who are sharing their own challenges and victories with their fitness goals and excited to see the responses from others.

No matter what kind of shape you’re in, your body is a gift – a miracle.  Only you can make the decision to take care of yourself and honor that gift.  No one else can do it for you!

Have a wonderful week and please let me know how I can serve you in your goal to live a healthy, joyful life!

God bless!

Chapin, SC production not quite like LA!

_dsc0611

I was looking at one of the videos I put up recently for PowerFit 101 (more to follow by the way!) and the difference between a home video and a full-out production became abundantly clear!  Now, don’t get me wrong… I’m a huge fan of home video and my children will get DVD compilations of their childhood memories, not scrapbooks as no matter how hard I try, I’m just not a crafty mom.  However, it really struck me that to make a video really look good it takes a tremendous amount of involvement – the least of which is me!  It’s more about having the right light, the clothes that fit and move properly, hair and make-up, the sound guy to hook a microphone up without it showing, the camera zeroing in on the right move, the technical director reminding me which way to go – just a whole bunch of stuff that I don’t have handy in my living room when I simply set up the home video camera and shoot for the blog.

So, in honor of all of those who know how to make a really good production, I thought I’d share some pictures with you from this summer which illustrate that it truly is a team effort!  I’ve also been able to witness production at QVC as well and somehow, 24 hours a day, with a bazillion different products and a variety of guests and props, they still sail smoothly right from their studios to our television sets day in and day out.  And speaking of QVC, please don’t forget to spread the word that I’ll be on August 24th (that’s this coming Monday) from 3:30-4AM, during the 12pm show, and 5-5:30PM.  I also have another appearance on Wednesday, August 26th at sometime during the morning show between 7-9AM.  I’d love to speak with you live about your experience with PowerFit so if you can tune in, phone in too!!

Have a wonderful day and see you Monday and Wednesday!

(and just so everyone in Chapin knows, I think our area is WONDERFUL for production as long as it’s not in my living room :-)    )

Back to school for you too!

Can you feel it?  Can you feel the energy and the buzz that comes with the start of a new school year?  Even if you don’t have kids heading back to school there’s just something about this time of year that offers so much promise to take on something new.

I confess that with my children being so young, I probably don’t spend near enough time learning something new everyday.  But I’m beginning to try…I’m reading a John Maxwell book daily along with “My Utmost for His Highest” by Oswald Chambers.  I’m also attempting for the third time to start incorporating some of the home organization tips as shared by the FlyLady group here on the Internet.   And in a couple of weeks I’ll be starting with a MOPS group (mothers of preschoolers) and I can’t wait to see what I learn from this group of ladies!!

When it comes to working out I’m thinking about signing up for the Governor’s Cup in Columbia.  I’ve lived in this area since 1990 yet never run that race.  I’m not really a runner so signing up to do it would certainly be a challenging experience for me as I understand that it’s rather hilly and not necessarily an easy course.  And I’ve got three girlfriends who want to run it as well and even though they’re all “real” runners, I’d have fun just catching up with all of them even if they almost kill me during the race as I attempt to keep up.

My point in sharing all of this is that I hope you plug into the energy of the new school year and learn something new yourself.  Try to read something new each day and then take on a new challenge with your workouts.  Maybe you’ve really never worked out consistently – make that something new for you and go for working out on a regular basis.  Maybe you’re a great cook but you could use some tips on making it healthier…Now is the time to learn!  Maybe there’s a new activity that you’d like to try.  Sign yourself up!  Make that commitment to learn something new…

When we stop learning we stop uncovering joy and stop discovering more about those around us in context of new information and new experiences. This world is an amazing place whether you’re studying about your soul, your own backyard, the people in your community or the ends of the earth.

I hope you’ll take some action steps to learn something new as I’m sure you’ll grow in the process – and that’s where the real education takes place!

Have a wonderful week and Happy Back-To-School for those of you with kids heading back!!

VIDEO: PowerFit 101 Cardio

Today’s video is a quick run-down of the Cardio workout – DVD2 from PowerFit.  I really appreciate the feedback I’ve received so far on these and please keep it coming!  I’m wide open to your suggestions on how I can best help you reach your own fitness goals.

I know that for many of you this is the last week before school starts.  Have you thought about how you’re going to take care of you during this crazy time of the year??  I hope you’ve learned that you have to take care of yourself in order to keep every one else in the family on schedule and that’s especially true anytime there’s a transition such as a new school year.  Reach out to the others around you to see if they need a little extra help in learning that it’s okay to take time for yourself!

Have a wonderful weekend if we don’t get a chance to chat and I’ll see you next week with three more videos from PowerFit 101!
